A. Volunteers are required to wear a uniform when volunteering. The uniform consists of a Fernbank nametag, a Fernbank-branded shirt (available for purchase in the Volunteer Office for $25), solid-color bottoms, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and a big smile!

A. Adult volunteer roles are available for individuals ages 18+. A special volunteer program, Fernbank Youth Interpreters, is available for youth ages 13-17.
A. We ask that volunteers contribute at least 50 hours per year (usually 1-2 shifts per month).
A: Yes, forest restoration volunteer opportunities are available for groups of 50 or less. These special opportunities must be coordinated at least 2 weeks in advance by contacting Forest@FernbankMuseum.org.
A. Absolutely! We encourage our volunteers to become familiar with the various volunteer roles available at the museum.
A: Yes, all volunteers are required to purchase an official Fernbank volunteer shirt for $25. Volunteers fulfilling court-mandated community service hours will be subject to a $30 background check fee.
A. There are lockers available in the Volunteer Office for you to use while volunteering. They are free to use and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Fernbank is a nonprofit natural history museum, giant screen theater and old-growth forest, and is not affiliated with Fernbank Science Center, which operates as a division of DeKalb County Schools.
