Chief of Security, Full-Time

Summary
The Security Chief is responsible for the safety and security of the complete Fernbank Campus, including Museum employees, volunteers, patrons,  collections, property and assets. The Security Chief will perpetually evaluate and update Fernbank's safety and security procedures to establish goals, objectives, programs and policies dedicated to maintaining the safest environment possible and insuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations. The Security Chief exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out all job responsibilities and other activities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that department.

Work Environment
This position operates in an office environment, as well as throughout Fernbank's Campus. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including but not limited to: computers, handheld radios, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
The Security Chief is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30am – 5pm. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

Travel
Travel is primarily local and during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, security or a closely related field, or equivalent number of years of experience, and/or 10 years full-time experience performing supervisory responsibilities or highly responsible work relating to tasks assigned to this position.

Front Office Agent, Full-Time

Job Summary
The Front Office Agent will generally be the first Fernbank Museum of Natural History employee visitors encounter. It is therefore imperative that all employees in this department be polite, courteous and professional at all times. Front Office Agents must always display a genuine concern for the needs of all visitors and must be willing to exhaust all efforts to ensure that each visitor has the most enjoyable experience possible. Front Office Agents must also possess the ability to learn and maintain the Museum's cash-handling policies and procedures, as each agent is responsible for balancing sales revenue at the end of each day.

Exhibit Technician, Full-time (Temporary)

Job Summary
The Exhibition Technician assists Fernbank's Exhibits Department in the installation and de-installation of the special exhibit. The Exhibit Technician works with other installation staff to construct the exhibit as conceived and approved by the lending institution.

Security Officer, Full-time and Part-time

Summary
This position is under the direct supervision of the Security Chief, Assistant Manager of Security and when appropriate, the Security Shift Supervisor. As a member of the Security Department, this individual is responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of all Fernbank Museum of Natural History guests, patrons, staff, volunteers, collections and assets. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Volunteer Services Coordinator, Full-Time

Position Summary
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is the primary organizer for the Polaris volunteer program, including recruitment, training, retention, and regular communications. The Coordinator also serves as the key customer service liaison for Membership on at least one weekend day and as a supplemental customer service liaison by phone and computer during the week.
